About Me
Yes, I speak HR. I knew at the tender age of my early 20s that I wanted to be an HR person. I finished a BS in Organizational Communication and a Masters of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Utah, and I spent several happy years as an HR Generalist at the Salt Lake City Public Library, before a short stint at a homeless health care clinic and then a move to Portland.
I am an HR geek. I love to explain the Americans with Disabilities Act and how you can write a job description so it's fair, legal, and lists all of the essential job requirements. I enjoy explaining how to avoid creating a hostile work environment. A good rainy day for me can involve curling up with a pile of resumes.
I am also a practical person who knows that you, as a small business owner, are not necessarily enthralled with complex projects or the details of employment law. You want to be legal and fair to your employees without spending too much time having to think about the laws and policies that will do these things. You want to hire a good person but don't have time to scan 300 resumes.
Let me help with HR when you need it, how you need it.
I also write poetry, manage a small but spunky performing arts production company, and I bake cookies to unwind.
